Love in a Hopeless Place

Erin and Jake first met at a gas station in May 2021.
It's not the most romantic of locations, especially when you work there, but the two of them got along quickly. After bonding over music and a love of Junkyard Brewing beers, they started seeing each other more often outside of work. On October 24th, 2021, Erin gave up on waiting and asked Jake out properly. Then began their journey as an official couple.
A few hours later, Jake left.
He had a trip planned, and so they spent the first four days of being in love apart. They decided quickly it was not a good time, and shortly after began making plans to move in together. With the support of friends and family, they eventually managed to save enough and get an apartment of their own.
In the beginning of 2023, Jake decided it was time to start thinking big. Discussions began about forever, with no plans or ring, but it was clear: they were in it for the long haul.
A little over year later, on April 7th, 2024, Jake took Erin out to Junkyard, where'd they'd had their very first date, and quietly proposed. There was no hesitation; Erin said yes.
The long wait began.
They had wanted a long engagement from the beginning. Time to plan, time to save, time to get more of life in order.
There were bad times - tight paychecks, illnesses, and the loss of their beloved cat.
But the good times came, too - romantic dates, wonderful weekend trips, and the addition of their incredible dog.
Erin and Jake have faced quite a bit. Now, they're ready to face forever.
Together.
